My how life changes…………

Okay,   I have really been off the scene way, way too long in the blog world!  Had a major, major event in my life and the life of my family that has really had my focus and attention, but that’s a good thing.  My 5yr Caitlyn recently started Kindergarten a few weeks ago, and it has truly been life changing.  Because my wife Vanessa and I are very involved in our daughters life, more time has been spent making sure she is adjusting to her new life as a student. (yeah I know it’s just kindergarten, but still )

This has really started a new chapter in the lives of everyone in my family.  To see the life that you have been blessed to have the responsibility of developing, truly start to take flight, grow and move into another phase of her life is amazing.  I have changed my work schedule to be able to pick her up from school and spend a couple of hours a day on homework (yes homework in kindergarten…but that’s a good thing) has really made me appreciate the responsibility as a parent that I have, and I don’t take it lightly.  I really look forward to getting to Caitlyn’s school and her getting in the car super excited to tell me what all she did today.  That is one of the best wrap up’s to my day at work, which can make me lose track of the real joys of life sometimes. The time we spend after school reading and going over her “sight” words on flash cards, has become one of the most important hours of my day.  Needless to say, I am really enjoying being a parent all over again on a daily basis and wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world.

So parents out there, do whatever you can to get that time with your children and don’t use anything as an excuse.  If we don’t take the time out to do our part in developing them, the cruel, corrupt world and it’s god (little “g”) will get them and form them in an unproductive way.  Forcing them to go through things they shouldn’t have to.  And that’s never a good thing.  We can’t prevent them from going through some challenges in life, but we can do our part to help them understand the right choices to make when they do arise.

Well that’s my spill for today.  Maybe I will find time to carve out a blog or two a week when everyone is asleep and dreaming.

Peace……………..
